The "Agricultural Movement" condemned the enemy's spraying of toxic substances in the south
NNA – The Agricultural Movement condemned, in a statement, “the Zionist enemy flying two agricultural aircraft designated for aerial spraying over Lebanese territory, where they sprayed liquid substances that were likely toxic herbicides, targeting forest and agricultural lands in the Al-Hima area opposite the Al-Raheb site and Khallet Warda opposite the Ramia site and on the outskirts of the town of Marwahin, in the western sector.”
She said: “This attack constitutes a serious violation of Lebanese sovereignty and a described environmental crime, because of the direct risks it poses to the health of the population, biodiversity, soil, groundwater, and agricultural crops, and the long-term effects it may have on food and environmental security in the region.”
The movement stressed that “this behavior is not isolated, as it was preceded by similar practices documented in the Quneitra Governorate in Syria in January 2026, where it documented operations to spray pesticides over agricultural lands, olive groves, and rural border areas, which required the collection of soil samples and laboratory tests amid serious fears of serious health and environmental damage,” considering that “this attack constitutes a direct threat to the health of the population, the environment, and agriculture.” We hold the enemy fully responsible for its repercussions.”
She called on the state, official bodies, environmental and human rights organizations, and all free people to “condemn this dangerous attack and take urgent action to protect the land and people.”
